The Journey at Pechanga is a newly opened, truly remarkable golf course located in the Pechanga Resort and Spa in Temecula, California. As its name indicates, the course takes you on a journey to a fantastic golf experience.

Its designer, Arthur Hill, has designed more than 100 well known golf courses in conjunction with his design firm Arthur Hill/Steve Forrest and Associates, in the U.S. alone, including famous venues such as Oakmont, Big Horn Golf Club, and Half Moon Bay Golf Links, just to name a few golf courses.

The Journey at Pechanga was designed with environmental responsibility and a keen sensitivity to preserving the beautiful and historic tribal lands and rich culture of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians.  Many of the protected sacred Oak trees on property were deemed "untouchable", as were other sacred areas, and the course and holes were creatively designed around them. The result is an exhilarating, one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

"The grandeur of panoramic vistas, rock outcroppings, stately old oak trees and the mountain edging one side of the course became a tapestry on which to weave the strategic aspects of the game of golf in order to evoke the spirit of competition," says Hill of his gem. "Throughout the design, we have remained dedicated to leaving plenty of room for relaxation and fun along the way."

The vision for the course focuses on highlighting the drama and natural beauty of the rare and distinctive site while preserving the sensitive areas and creating a golf layout that exhibits the highest standards and traditions. It is the perfect union of nature, form and function.

The course is as challenging as it is spectacular, and yet playable for golfers of all skill levels with a choice of five tee boxes.  The course winds its way across the Pechanga River over impressive, rustic wooden bridges and takes full advantage of the simply awe-inspiring terrain which rises and falls some 300 feet - often with majestic views of the Temecula Valley.  One hole par 4 - 488 yards 6th which is elevated almost 200 feet from the fairway, and then another 100 feet down to the green.  "The hang time there is stupendous, between 8 and 10 seconds," says Forrest "If you hit it just right, you can almost drive the green thanks to the speed slot we created on one side of the landing zone."    As the name implies, this golf course presents an exhilarating "journey" that is sure to create an unforgettable and lasting memory for every golf enthusiast who sets foot on the course.
